The Breville BOV950 Joule Oven Pro earns strong praise as a full-featured convection oven that also air fries perfectly, with many users noting it basically replaces your whole oven for cooking. Its capacity is huge, with room to fit baking pans and casserole dishes that competing units simply can't accommodate. One devoted user calls it impossible to beat and says they use it almost every time they cook a meal.
That said, the air frying function draws consistent criticism from reviewers. Multiple users caution that it is not a great air fryer, explaining that it is not a traditional air fryer so that function isn't actually that great and that it doesn't move air around as well as basket style units. The fan is loud in air fry mode, adding to the frustration for those who bought it primarily for that purpose.
Cleaning is another recurring caveat, with users finding it complicated and hard to clean the inside oven. The unit also takes up a significant amount of counter space, so kitchen real estate is something to consider before purchasing.
For baking, toasting, and roasting, users are largely delighted. The oven is great for everything else from toasting to baking, and the free Breville app adds real value — the recipes are free and a multi step recipe to make roast chicken is perfection according to one enthusiastic cook. A 5 minute preheat time also keeps things practical for everyday use.
On price, the consensus is that the Breville BOV950 is very expensive, though many concede it is expensive but well built. It is best suited for home cooks who want a versatile, large-capacity countertop oven for baking and roasting rather than those seeking a dedicated air fryer replacement.
