AI summary based on real user insights
The overwhelming theme across reviews is satisfaction with everyday performance and reliability. Owners consistently describe the Foodi Smart XL as an appliance that gets used almost daily and holds up well, with many praising how it crisps fries and chicken evenly with little oil. Cleanup is another repeated highlight, with users calling it easy to clean, and several loving the versatility of doing everything from air frying to pizza to whole meals in one unit. Many say it has essentially replaced their traditional oven, with comments like rarely using the normal oven anymore.
That said, complaints do surface, mostly around longevity and consistency. Several users reported units dying after one to three years of regular use, and a few noted unsettling issues like smoking or scary noises. Others pushed back on the air frying performance itself, with one calling it better as an oven than an air fryer, and another saying it takes forever to cook and doesn't crisp anything. A handful also mentioned it can be easy to burn food or a pain to clean depending on use.
Use cases vary widely, from quick weeknight meals to full family dinners. Fans note it's especially good for frozen chicken tenders, fries, and fast 30 minute meals, while others highlight the dual basket setup for cooking two things at different temps. Small kitchen owners especially appreciate that it folds up to save counter space, making it a favorite for those tight on room. Some also value the built-in thermometer for cooking large cuts of meat.
On value, opinions are mixed but lean positive. Many describe it as worth every penny and a smart long-term investment, with some getting four to eight years of solid use. However, others feel it's overpriced for what you get, and a few voiced broader concerns about declining build quality across the Ninja lineup.
A few standout observations come up again and again. Multiple reviewers say Ninja is simply the best brand for air frying they've tried, often refusing to consider other brands afterward. Others point to thoughtful design details like the simple controls without a million buttons and responsive customer support, and the fact that many find the appliance genuinely life changing for daily cooking habits.
